Dr. Alleem earned a Ph.D. from the University of Salford, Manchester, UK, and received honorary doctorates from various International Universities in recognition of his achievements in the socio-economic fields. He is widely known as a visionary and thought leader in business, socio-economic, academic and cultural fields.
Dr. Alleem is the chairman of Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority - UAE. He served for over a decade as Director General, Department of Seaports and Customs and Sharjah Free Zones Authority. He was the driving force in transforming the zones into a strategic commerce hub empowering thousands of businesses in the region, thereby contributing to the development of the UAE economy. He has been instrumental in bringing on board over 12,000 companies from across 157 nations attracting a whopping $ 40 billion FDI.
A prolific writer both in English and Arabic, Dr. Rashid Alleem is the author of several books on management and leadership. His recent books are ‘My Green Journey in Hamriyah’, My Leadership Secrets’, Sustainability: The fourth wave of economy and I am committed to the 17 Global Goals.
Acclaimed for his unique leadership qualities, Dr. Alleem has been conferred with the Middle East Business Leaders Awards 2012 as a tribute to his acumen in Training & Human Capital Development. He has also been decorated with the Jewels of Muslim World Award 2012 in Jakarta in recognition of his achievements as one of the top nine movers of the Islamic economics. He was bestowed with the honour of Environmentalist of the year 2012 by the Prime Minister of Malaysia Dr. Mahathir Mohamad in recognition of his contributions towards sustainable environment. Dr. Alleem is recognized as one among the 100 UAE nationals who have contributed immensely to the ‘happiness’ of the UAE, on the eve of the United Nations’ ‘International Day of Happiness’ 2013.
In 2013, he was conferred with ‘Certificate of Knight Award’ for his outstanding contribution in the field of ‘Leadership & Development’ by International Organization for Standardisation (ISO) and also bestowed with the Arab Organisation Award for Social Responsibility from the Arab Organization for Social responsibility in recognition of his CSR initiatives in Hamriyah Free Zone. Dr. Alleem has also been decorated with the coveted ‘2013 Extraordinary Human’ Award by the United Nations-World Peace Organization, Washington, United States on the occasion of international day of people with disability.
Early 2014, Dr. Alleem was conferred with ‘Award of Excellence’ by Daimler-Mercedes Benz Germany for the efforts in protecting the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) of Mercedes Benz in the Emirates of Sharjah, UAE. Later in May, Dr. Alleem received the prestigious ‘Global Economic Development Leadership Award’ in Cochin- India.
In a rare tribute to the wisdom reflected in ‘Management in the whole of the Arab World’, Dr. Alleem was honoured with the ‘Golden Arrow Award’ on 18th Feb 2014 in Dubai. On 3rd April, 2014, he was recognized as ‘Goodwill Ambassador for Peace, Care and Relief in GCC Countries, Middle East and North Africa’ by the International Organization for Peace, Care and Relief and Member of the Economic and Social Council of The United Nations. Many people also recognized him as ‘Green Ambassador of the UAE’.
Dr. Rashid was recognized as “THE KNOWLEDGE AMBASSADOR OF UAE 2015” by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

Dr. Sommariva is Managing Director of ILF Consulting Engineers Middle East and the head of the company’s worldwide desalination practice. He has experience in thermal, reverse osmosis and wastewater systems and has served in various roles in all the major desalination developments in the Middle East.
Dr. Sommariva joined ILF in 2009 after working nine years with Mott MacDonald where led the desalination and water treatment group as Managing Director of generation Middle East. In his early career, Dr Sommariva worked in Ansaldo Energia and Italimpianti in various roles.

Laila Abdullatif currently serves as Deputy Director General at Emirates Wildlife Society – WWF (EWS-WWF). Her role involves actively contributing to the successful delivery of EWS-WWF strategic and operational plans by providing leadership and cultivating a high-performance culture in the organisation. She is also involved in working on special assignments and forming key relationships with valuable stakeholders across different sectors that will help EWS-WWF’s programmes reach maximum impact.
Laila represents EWS-WWF to the public, and plays an active role in fundraising for the organisation and managing the Board of Directors and activating the Advisory Board.

Also, the last 10 years worked at the Federal Environmental Agency (FEA) in the UAE, responsible for various issues of Environment, including Alternative & Renewable Energy & Green Fuels, Oil Pollution studies(marine), Air Pollution, Waste Management, as well as Protected Areas,Biodiversity and Wildlife. Beside, Environmental Awareness & Sustainable Development. Having spent more than 25 years ( in the GCC) in the field of Environmental Research and Management . Dr. Mohan Agarwal is a Professor of Business, Director of Executive Programs, and Head of the Middle East Case Research Center at International Horizons College, Dubai. He is a US Fulbright Fellow to Boston, European Foundation for Management Development Fellow to Paris and British Council Fellow twice to Glasgow and Leicester UK. He is also Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, (FCIM) London.
During his career, Dr. Mohan was a Professor & Chair of department of Marketing, E-com, Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the American University in the Emirates, Dubai, IMT Dubai and Adjunct Faculty at the SP Jain Business School, Dubai and Singapore. Charles is the General Manager of taka solutions, a Dubai based Energy Services Company which specializes in Energy Performance Contracting (EPC). Charles works in all aspects of building analysis, design, construction and operation, as well as project financing and management to help UAE building owners reduce their energy consumption and energy related costs. taka solutions’ regional goal is to work with governmental bodies to adopt widespread use of EPC to curb the countries energy supply needs. Mr. Hohmann is working since more than 25 years in the field of environmental technology and project management. He started his career working 10 years in the field on waste management and contaminated sites in Germany. During this time he worked on multiple waste management projects and was responsible for various landfill designs in Germany.
Between 1998 and 2010 Mr. Hohmann was working as project manager on international construction projects mainly for race tracks. During this period he successfully and timely delivered five Formula 1 projects, two MotoGP projects and two privately owned tracks with an overall project value of more than 2 billion USD. Working with critical schedules in difficult environments coordinating many stakeholders was required for all these projects.
Since 2010 Mr. Hohmann works as Managing Director for Fortytwo Environmental Consultancy, which was founded to provide environmental consultancy services to the Middle East market with the combined knowledge of project management and environmental management to increase sustainability on projects.

Jesus Gutierrez is the Co-founder and Managing Director of Smart4Power (S4P), a UAE-based company specialized in identifying an implementing energy efficiency solutions in existing buildings. Jesus has over 20 years of international experience in the field of energy and demand side management. Previously he worked at United Nations (Mexico), PricewaterhouseCoopers (Philippines) the utility company Gas Natural-Fenosa and the technology group Indra (Spain). Jesus holds a BA in Business Administration and an MPhil in Technology & Innovation from the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) at the University of Sussex, UK. Jesus passion about energy efficiency lies on two basic concepts: knowledge and innovation management and doing the right thing. Jesus believes that investing in energy efficiency is one of the most attractive and sustainable investments that companies in the region can make. Prof Ayman M Ismail is a professor of Environmental Planning and GIS.
He is currently teaching at the Masters Program at the American University of Sharjah.
He is the former Chair of the Department of Architectural Engineering in Egypt, the founder and director of the GIS Research Lab, the Environmental Planning and Design MSc Program, Dream for Your Block Community initiative and advisor to several national agencies working on implementing a national green building policy in Egypt.
He has served as advisory team member on national Urban Policy reform, consultant in GIS and Development Projects to many agencies including the UNDP, World Bank, the Arab League and the Egyptian General Organization for Physical Planning, Ministry of Housing and Ministry of Irrigation.
He holds a PhD from The Ohio State University and 2 Masters Degrees, one in Development Economics from the Development Planning Unit DPU-UCL in London and one in City and regional Planning from the Ohio State University.

Lina Hourani is the Director of Al Ahli Holding Group CSR Division, since 2008, responsible for several youth development programs and initiatives. The Global Business Opportunities program (GBO) was a major milestone in Lina’s professional path, helping Al Ahli Group to identify business opportunities, develop the entrepreneurial skills for youth, shifting them from being job seekers to job providers. Mr. Shawwa worked directly with a number of utility owner operators to help improve their infrastructure adoption, operational efficiency and help them build the road to digital transformation.

Dr. Raman is involved in the field of renewable and sustainable energy for more than 30 Years. His Ph.D is on establishing sustainable energy management using locally available renewable energy sources like biomass. His Research contribution includes development on Biomass gasifier based power generation system, waste to energy, clean combustion cookstoves, Internal combustion engine, solar energy, Energy storage etc. His present research is focused on clean combustion, and efficient utilization of energy resources. Dr. Raman has more than 80 research publications and 10 patents as an outcome of his research work.
Dr Lasrado is an Assistant Professor of Quality Management in the Faculty of Business at the University of Wollongong in Dubai. She is an active researcher and recipient of many internal as well as international research grants. She was also recognized for her research and has won research excellence awards at her current organization. Prior to joining UOWD, she taught both MBA and undergraduate degree courses at various universities in Dubai. She carries extensive experience in quality assurance and institutional effectiveness. Alongside her teaching career, she also held positions like Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Head of Quality Assurance in UAE institutions
Dr Lasrado has worked at managerial levels in the higher education sectors and has expertise as an educator and trainer. She is qualified as an internal auditor for ISO 9001:2008. In her previous roles she has implemented quality systems and currently serves as a chairperson of impartiality committee of ISO certifications at BUREAU VERITAS. She has extensive international experience, having worked with the partner universities and institutions in the UK, USA, OMAN and UAE.
Dr Lasrado is a Professional Member of ASQ, and has been a speaker at various Forums such as ASQ MEA, British Councils Global Higher Education Dialogues in Srilanka, UK and UAE, World Quality Congress, Leadership Congress in UAE, Organizational Learning Conference Forum and Ideas Arabia, UAE.
